Latrina
Latrina in Hierapolis served as a public sanitation system, a system which allowed for the citizens to use a toilet on premises. It is indicative of Roman cities’ advanced city planning and concern for the public’s health.
Benches were made out of stone or marble, cut into them were holes and seated latrina’s were outfitted with a sewage system to aid in sanitation. A constant stream of water was supplied through waterways beneath the latrina’s.
